New Facilities, New Courses
for 2012 In addition to the popular Beginners Practical this year we are running courses on Tuesday nights for those with
some experience of beekeeping who want to develop their skill. Covering topics like IPM, disease recognition, swarm
control and colony increase it provides a choice of colonies to work on, in different types of hives with experienced beekeepers

Queen Rearing Day
Sunday 20th May 10.30 - 4.00

The aim of the day is to give you the knowledge and
practical experience of a number of different methods and techniques that you can use to raise queens in your apiary. The
course will cover the use of the cup kit systems and grafting, we will also be using nuc boxes and mini mating hives. We will
also discuss and demonstrate the preparation of cell raiser and queen breeder colonies. This day
course will cover both the theory and practical aspects of queen rearing,with some activities in the classroom as well as
practical, hands on in the apiary. Ploughmans type lunch included in
the course fee.
