The wood peckers have hit hard! Not just our hives -which are now well wrapped up in plastic sheets -but
several beekeepers we know have also been hit badly so do check hives, especially if they are on an out apiary.
We've
seen bees flying this week in temperatures of only five degrees but I think many are desperate to get out and void their guts
outside the hive.
If you are hoping to get a nuc through the winter then do check their
stores as soon as you can. If you are in any doubt then feed them with candy to keep them going.
